How to Plant

New Lawn Installation

Earth Turf is sowed just like a normal lawn.

1. Prep
For Bare Dirt: Loosen top layer of soil with rake, rototill if compacted.
For Existing Lawns: Cut lawn to lowest height. Remove turf with rake or rototiller and rake smooth.

Optionally, go over area with a water roller to compact the surface. Rake out high spots and re-roll until its flat and footprints go less than 1/4" deep.

2. Seed
Shake up Earth Turf bag to ensure no settling. Spread by hand for small areas and use a spreader for large areas. Lightly scratch top 1/4" of soil with rake.

We recommend applying some organic fertilizer. Optionally, apply straw mulch over the area.

3. Water
Keep soil moist until the grass reaches two inches to ensure good establishment. This may take more than one watering per day in hot weather.

4. Relax
Enjoy your new organic lawn with friends and family.

Overseeding

1. Prep
Mow existing lawn to lowest height. Dethatch and thin the grass to make room for the new seeds with either a thatch rake or power dethatcher.

You need to remove enough grass that you see mostly dirt when you look down. The more space the new seeds have to grow, the better.

If the soil is compacted, we recommend going over area with a core aerator.

2. Seed
Shake bag of Earth Turf Overseed to ensure no settling of seeds. Toss seeds by hand for small areas and use a broadcast or drop spreader for larger areas.

Apply organic fertilizer or peat moss, if desired.

3. Water
Keep soil moist until the grass reaches two inches to ensure good establishment. This may take more than one watering per day in hot weather.

4. Follow up
If any areas didn’t establish, apply Earth Turf again the following year for full establishment.
